There should be no problem bringing your pet into the Bahamas, provided its age is six months or older. You would need to obtain an import licence from the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries, Nassau, and provide a valid health certificate. The Ministry's charge for processing the application is $10 and if they have to fax anything to you they charge $5. Their telephone number is (242) 325-7502 and fax (242) 325-3960. Mailing address - P. O. Box N-3028, Nassau, Bahamas.

Your pet would have to be examined by a local veterinarian in Nassau within forty-eight hours of arrival and you should bring all of your pet's medical records. The charge for a normal veterinarian's exam is approx. $20, plus the cost of any pills (e.g. heart worm pills) if recommended. Qualified veterinarians are available at the Bahamas Humane Society: (242) 323-5138, fax (242) 356-2659 and mailing address - P. O. Box N-242.
